I am not covered any longer for support. Does anyone know what the problem is and if it can be fixed?

My iMac is dead. I have followed the instructions - press peer button for at least 10 seconds and then press it as normal but it’s not working.

What mode and year iMac do you have? What do you mean by not working?

Do you mean that when you press the power button there is absolutely no activity in the iMac?

If so try unplugging the power cable f rom the back for about 10 seconds, plug it back in and try the power button again. If that lets you boot up you have a failing power supply.

Turns out it was a sticky button. Didn’t seem sticky - pressed in and clicked but followed these steps found online:

turn of power supply

turn the iMac facing screen down

spray a drop of wd40 on the button

wait a few minutes

pressed the button a few times

(I also wiped away tiny grains of dust with tissue in between pressing)

turn power supply back on

press button

it worked!
