Adding GPS tracking to Watch training ´Surfing´ (Or renaming something else)

Hi folks,

now that I have an Apple Watch 6, I’d like to track my kiteboarding activities with it. Just had my first session this year, and used the surf training to track it. Boy was I disappointed when I checked the Health App and found out it doesn’t show the GPS data of my session! It does so perfectly when biking.

So, I tried to add GPS measurements to the surf training, to no avail. Renaming some training I usually don’t use, like running, doesn’t work as well. And using outdoor bike isn’t an option for obvious reasons.

Do I really have to use some other training that automatically includes GPS, or is there a workaround?

Thx for some suggestions!

Hey there, joerg64.

It appears that you want to see your GPS route when using the Surfing workout type. Check out the information below about GPS routes for workouts, which is from this article: End and review your workout on Apple Watch

"Route is available for outdoor walk, hiking, run, open water swim, or cycle workouts."

You wouldn't be able to add GPS routes to a surfing workout on the Apple Watch or in the Fitness app.

Take care.
