Excessive data use with Apple Maps on CarPlay

Recently took a trip to northwest Louisiana and rented a car with CarPlay. I have made this trip numerous times and I’ve had many cars with CarPlay. On this trip however, I noticed my data was being consumed extremely quickly so I checked to see what was consuming my data and found it was Maps. After that I never let Maps be on the display and my phone stopped consuming excess data. I use Maps all the time during 12 hour drives and it usually only uses about 240MB/month but these were 27 mile trips twice a day and it used 2.3GB ove just a few days. Think this maybe a CarPlay bug in iOS 14.6.
