FinalCutPro 10.5.3 Crashes on Exporting Any File

When hitting Next... and Save on Export dialog, FCP just simply crashes. A few moment system dialog shows up "Final Cut Pro Quit Unexpectedly".

I have tried these :

  1. Reinstall FCP
  2. Delete All Libraries
  3. Reset Preference
  4. Try export few codecs - HEVC (either mov and mp4) and ProRes 422 LT
  5. Try few bunch of vdo files

None could solve. Anybody has the same issue here ? Did not have this issue before 10.5.3.

Intel MacBook Air 2020, Big Sur 11.4, FCP 10.5.3, Compressor 4.5.3

For those who are not be able to solve this issue, based on other user who has contacted Apple, looks like we will have to wait for an update for this. But if you have a backup of previous FCP. I suggest to roll it back right now since it would work perfectly. According to nahumyamin.

"[UPDATE]

I've reverted to the previous working version of FCP (10.5.2) from my time machine backup, and no issue with exporting. The application works as expected and in the same way as before.

I suspect there is an issue with the new released version, I will keep this previous version and wait to see if there is an update or fix from Apple."

Hope this also helps you.

pakawatt,

Yes, I do think it is problem within FCP that is no longer work with some regions.

GeordieAlex,

Seen your post about changing region in another thread too. It is now the only option I have besides waiting for Apple. Thank you.

zeqing0408,

Thanks for info about regional option. Everyone tends to be able to export a clip from changing a region.

To wrap things up,

The root cause is definitely came from FCP update that somehow messes with regional setting. Most of us having an issue all due to a non US region. That is why who reside in US might not have one. Although, changing region to US is a temporary solution but FCP has to be fixed from Apple anyway. Thank you all for the effort. At least, we have a workaround before FCP finally updated.

I had the same problem, exporting didn't work, crashed after a few seconds. I read all threads. Deleted additional languages, German and Croation, no effect. Then I changed the English language (UK region) to US region and I can again export! It is an English System (bought in Vancouver 2017), Catalina 10.15.7, MacBookPro 15 inch mid 2015 - 16GB RAM,Upgrade fcpx from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3 caused the export problem, Third Party (Magic Bullet, mLut, Prolumetric titles). Hope Apple can fix the issue with all the user information!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! IT WORKED!!! I had additional languages and I just left English as the primary and it worked! I wonder why additional/other languages would cause the app to crash like that. Maybe we'll have to wait for an update with a fix for that? Even so, I am so happy that it's finally worked! I've got 5 five videos that needed exporting asap and I can finally do that! Thanks to all of you kind and helpful people! Hope everyone's issue gets fixed with this and everyone can export again :) Have a good week!

Meyao,

First some users's guess was leaving an English as primary but at the end changing a region is a key.

ZviadPochkhua,

Please refer to Tom's latest reply. In general, it is a bug within FCP that is no longer work on some specific "first-setup" regions (mostly non English-speaking).

Alchroma,

Thank you for more input on this.

I am really wish FCP team acknowledge this at this point and push out a fix although changing a region is a short-term answer but as user perspective, any software should just works on any condition.
