Service Recommended: Battery

When unplugging my power to MacBook Pro the device shuts down entirely until the power cord is returned. Battery Power states reads as 100%, however, the Service Recommended appears when clicking on the battery icon in the menu bar. Anything I can do to remedy on my own?

Battery life I have a message on battery life, it says: THE BATTERY'S CAPACITY IS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED. TO RESTORE CAPACITY, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SERVICE OPTION. When I click on service option, don't get much help as my MACBOOK air 13" is a bit old. Any ideas? Thank you.

Try an SMC reset. If that does not work contact Apple Support using the Get Support link located at the top right of this page.
