Here's my issue.
I have an Audio Technica AT2020 usb mic plugged into the new Mac pro. Under sound settings/Input I have the mic selected and I'm seeing the input levels interact with my voice and taps on the mic. However, I just can't hear anything. I have a set of Klipsch desktop speakers connected which puts out my sound, but I'm just not getting sound out of the microphone. Any suggestions anyone?

Why would you, in general, expect or want to hear your Mic input in the speakers? That is not generally useful.
You need an App or some mechanism to make that connection. It has NEVER been the default.

Sound OUTPUT is provided from most Macs by a headphone output. This will drive imepedence-matched headphones, but is no where near the correct levels to drive speakers.
To drive speakers, a Mac has always required an external amplifier of some description.
I'm not having an issue with sound output from my speakers. The speakers work great with outputting sound from all music platforms, my adobe premier software. etc...
The one exception is the usb microphone that I have plugged into the mac. I get levels, but hear no sound when I speak into the mic.

I didn't realize I needed a third party app to hear the microphone. I thought at the very least that I would hear the mic from the internal speakers on the mac. Can you suggest an app?
