My iPhone has been hijacked

My iPhone has been hijacked. The screen flashes a message to call 1-870-259-4849. I am reluctant to call but phone is rendered useless. It can't be turned off. Removal of SIM card does not help. I finally call. The person answering claims to be with Apple Support. They ask for the model of phone which I give. They then ask for my email address which I do not give.

Please advise.

Thanks

iPhone 11 Pro Max, iOS 14

You either see popups in Safari app, or you did subscribe to a scam calendar; an issue several other people reported here too.

Open the Calendar app on your iPhone. If you see events with subject similar to the message you saw it on the screen, then go to Settings app, then Calendar > Accounts, and look for and remove the one you don’t recognise as your own.

If the issue is with the Safari app, see ‘About pop-up ads and windows in Safari’ https://support.apple.com/en-ie/HT203987.
