10 year old monitor Samsung monitor doesn’t work with new Mac mini.

After I set up my brand new Mac mini computer to my 10 year old Samsung monitor, the screen stayed blank. I used the thunderbolt to connect them as I did with the old Mac Mini. Please advise as I am not exactly a computer guru. Thanks

What model Samsung? If it uses Mini DisplayPort it would have worked plugged into a Mac's Thunderbolt port, but will not work with a Thunderbolt adapter. To use a Mini DisplayPort display with a new Mac's USB-C/Thunderbolt port you need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter, such as:
