Homepod connection to Sky Broadband

I have a problem connecting my recently purchased Homepod mini to my Sky Broadband which uses their Q router. To save me typing the story again here's a link I posted on the Sky Communities forum.

Re: HomePod setup issue - Sky Community The Homepod has say unused since so I've just tried Apple's help again and the suggestion was to go to Sky so I feel squashed between these two multi national companies with no actual suggestion of a solution. The best I got from Apple was that it may be related to ports open on the router. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. The Homepod was bought with the idea of purchasing further security devices and I have bought a couple of used items as a starting point but they're not recognised on the Home App, likely due to the same communications issue. The Homepod is currently only capable of playing music from my phone. Everything is updated to the latest versions.

What is the error message you get when you try to set up your HomePod? See If you can't set up HomePod - Apple Support. Wi-Fi incompatible typically suggests that some form of client isolation/wireless security option is in place. This option grants connected devices access to the Internet, but blocks access to the rest of your network. It isn't a ports issue. HomePod needs peer-to-peer connections to be possible so that your HomePod, iPhone, and other devices can communicate over Wi-Fi.

Just to add, I've just logged onto my Sky account via my Windows 10 PC browser (Microsoft Edge) and it lists all connected devices on my wi-fi network. That lists the Homepod (with it's device name), IP address and MAC address. So it's there. But I can't add any other devices, whether scanned or even when entering the number manually. I couldn't add the Homepod initially with the same issue until I went through that process listed on the Sky community page - I think vie my mobile data rather that internet communication.

Just to add further, the Apple person I spoke to mentioned the possibility of it being a port issue and I asked him which ports should be open and which shut. He responded that I should contact Sky Broadband and they would know, which in my opinion is not very helpful.

The settings on my Sky Q router have three mentions of port that are easily accessible to a novice and probably more with those with more skill than myself.

It lists a Broadband Port with lots of detail

A LAN port with similar detailed content and then

A Wireless Port with the following detail:

Name (SSID) *******

Region Europe

Current Channel 6 (2.4 GHz), 36 (5 GHz)

Wireless APEnabled

Broadcast NameYes

Is there anyone out there who can advise whether this is of some use or otherwise adviise me as to what ports should be open or closed to get the Homekit to communicate properly wherein accessories can be connected

Thanks

When trying to connect an accessory to he Home app on my iPhone is simply giving a spinning sign of time going by. After some time an error message is displayed indicating 'Accessory Not Found - Make sure your accessory is powered on and connected to your router with an ethernet cable, then try again'.

I've tried both scanning in the code on the Homekit accessories as well as typing in the number manually into the Home app. Neither work. I've tried on more than one accessory.

I have now bought a Eufy security camera (very cheap on Amazon prime day) and hope to try with that as well. It does work on it's own software okay.
