Using iBasso dac with iPhone 12 Pro Max

I have an iBasso DC03 usb dac. It works when plugged into an iPhone XR, iPhone 7, and several iPads tried. It is plugged in using either the USB 3 or USB 2 to lightning adapters, and both work fine.

However, when plugged into my iPhone 12 Pro Max, it does not play any audio through it, only through the speakers. The Apple headphone dongle works fine when attached though. All iPhones on iOS 14.6. iPads on iOS 14.6 and even a Mini on iOS 12.5.3 work fine.

The USB accessories switch is on in Face ID & Passcode settings. Is there some other setting somewhere not turned on?

Hi Eddie77777,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. We understand you are unable to play audio through your iBasso, when connected to your iPhone 12 Pro Max.

You may need to work directly with the manufacturer to determine what may be happening. However, we did find a potential firmware upgrade that you may need:

DC03/DC04 Driver, FW, & APP - iBasso Audio

Cheers!

I do have the same problem with FiiO BTR5 before as it doesn’t support the default charging cord as a wired DAC with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The mfg told me to use the LT-Lt1 cable which is a Lightning to usb-c adapter. Probably it has a mfi chip on its ligthning port and it works seamlessly. I think you should probably use a DAC dongle that is interchangeable like Shanling UA2 or FiiO BTR5. I hope this one helps.
