Unlock without pressing HOME

On my iPad 7th generation, the HOME button no longer works consistently. I see on the Apple website that it is possible to turn and off Touch ID in settings but I do not have that option in my settings .

Perhaps my iPad is too old? I could probably work around that, but it is causing the volume to cut out,

which messes up listening to books on Audible.com. Any ideas, folks?? I would appreciate any help!

Thank you! Barbara

Hello applehelpipad,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're having an issue with the Home button on your iPad. We checked your model of iPad, and it should have Touch ID as a feature, however, if the Home button is becoming defective, it could impact your ability to use Touch ID.

If you're not in a position to have your iPad checked out and repaired, you may find that AssistiveTouch can help during times when the Home button isn't working as expected. Take a look at the following article for more information on this feature.

Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Should you decide to bring your iPad in for repairs, you can locate repair centers in your area at Find Locations.

Best regards.
