-2006F error on MacBook air

I wanted to wipe out my MacBook Air from 2015 for trade in, and after I followed all the steps the Mac froze at the reinstalling MacOS last step. Now, when I started and hold Comand+R keys, an Apple. Com/support -2006F error pops up.

I understand that is related to not finding my internet connection, but how can I solve it?

Hello Gabemanescu,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you are getting an error when trying to boot to Recovery mode to try to reinstall macOS on your MacBook Air. We would recommend taking a look at this article on using macOS Recovery on your MacBook Air.

Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-based Mac - Apple Support

Note that there are a couple of options to access Recovery, either the built in system or over the internet. Depending on how you erased the hard drive the built-in system may no longer be present.

Best regards.

Bailier,

I very much appreciate your prompt response and instructions. I have tried the solution proposed before and again now without success.

Command-R: returns with a folder icon with question mark

Option-Command-R: returns with the error -2006F

Option-Shift-Command-R: same as above

Apparently, on the last two options, the Mac does not connect to the internet, may not find the wifi. So, how can I advance?

Thanks,

Gabemanescu,

Thank you for that information. If you are not able to boot to the internal recovery volume and the computer is not connecting to the internet to use that version of Recovery, you will need to get the assistance of an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider to connect and reinstall the macOS.

If we understand correctly you are preparing the computer for trade-in. If this is the Apple trade-in program and you have erased the computer, you can send it in without installing the macOS on the computer.

Cheers.
