VO2 max dropped like a brick

Have been using the applewatch to gauge fitness levels using VO2 max level I have been above average for over a year then two months ago it dropped and again has dropped again this time giving me warnings as it is now low - my overall fitness is higher than it has been and before the warning today I had done a 1 hour spin class and a 5 mile walk so it's not a lack of exercise or pushing my arobic rate. Is it a software glitch again like the ones posted in 2019?

You can only get a VO2Max reading by doing the following workouts;

Outdoor Walking

Outdoor running

Hiking.

VO2 max relates to maximal exertion. So you’ll need to log a pretty intensive workout to generate a reading. And you’ll need to sustain it for at least 20 minutes.

My VO2 max dropped suddenly as well. I run 3-5 miles every day and have watched my VO2 max slowly rise to a consistent 60 over the past year. On July 1st it was 60 and then on July 2nd it dropped to 48.8 and then again to 44.8 on July 3rd. It has now stayed between 44 and 46 throughout the month of July. My workouts have not changed at all, I still run 3-5 miles every day, my average heart rate is the same, and my pace has actually continued to increase. Does anyone have an explanation to this? Am I actually below average in CV fitness somehow (despite my 6-minute mile paces for my 3-5 miles) or is there a problem with my apple watch?
