Right click functionality in screen sharing was broken

Somewhere around Catalina Apple broke right click mouse behavior in Screen Sharing.

Previous behavior would let you hold down the right mouse button while moving the mouse.

Current functionality is when you press the mouse button it disappears.

This makes it impossible to control any kind of applications that depend on mouse coordinates while the button is depressed. E.g, a House rendering program that lets you view the 3D coordinates by aligning the camera angle to the mouse movement.

This is a huge breaking change and I hope Apple can get this fixed.

Hi clubhi,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We understand that right-click isn't functioning as expected when using the Screen Sharing feature, so we'd like to help. Just to be sure we're on the same page, does the right-click menu disappear when you move your mouse around? If so, first try restarting your Mac. Sometimes this simple step can resolve unexpected behavior. Also try turning Screen Sharing off then back on again: Turn Mac screen sharing on or off. If the issue persists, test with another mouse. If none of those steps help, create another administrator account to see if you continue to notice the behavior: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. This will help determine if the issue is isolated to one user account.

Take care.
