I can’t get my iPhone 12 to play in landscape on my Apple TV 4G. It plays sideways. Seems as if it’s an old problem that has never been resolved with each new generation of IOS. Hard to believe. Does anyone have any insights?

Apple TV will play landscape footage in landscape mode, through AirPlay or otherwise.
Please don’t film vertically.
One exception is Portrait Orientation Lock in Control Center, which would force iPhone to mirroring vertically regardless of content.
I’m not talking about footage unfortunately. I am using Facetime for my personal trainer sessions and my phone and its camera need to be in landscape so he can see around the gymn. When it’s just FaceTime on the phone, it’s fine, works in landscape and fills the screen fully. However when i screen mirror to the TV it rotates so that it shows his face sideways and only uses a third of the TV screen. . The sound is fine.
