iPhone Not Showing Up in Music?

I installed a new hard drive onto my computer and installed Big Sur 11.4 from scratch. When I plug in my phone via lightning cable, it no longer shows up in the desktop Music app. So no way to sync my playlists. Any ideas?

Hi LadyJ.

Did you upgrade from Mojave or earlier?

You didn't specify, so I wondered if you knew that you sync your phone via the Finder now, instead of the Music app. The phone should still be seen on the music app itself, but you do the work on what you want to sync via the Finder.

Look for your phone in the sidebar of Finder and hopefully it's a simple fix.

Best,

Chuck
