Airpods Pro Overheating and melting

Day before yesterday I put my airpods pro in the case to charge and left in on the table. After about 15 mins I removed the left airpod from the case and it was really hot. I checked the case and it didnt have any damage yet so to avoid anything happening to the case I removed the earpiece and kept it on the table overnight. In the morning when I saw the earpiece it had wrinkled in places where it came in contact with the table. I immediately called the support number and they asked me to go to the service center. Service center told me its my fault ( I HAVE NO IDEA HOW) and its not covered in warranty. I bought this device for full retail price and I am being asked to pay about 50% of that again to get one earpiece which wasn't even my fault.
