Magic Keyboard trackpad not working fresh out of box?

Bought the 4th gen 12.9in iPad Pro and set it up last night. I bought the Magic Keyboard to pair and immediately connected it to my iPad after initial iPad set-up. Keyboard works fine, but the trackpad is completely unresponsive? I'm unable to see a cursor or use any of the touch shortcuts. Any solutions? I tried restarting my iPad and reconnecting it to the keyboard but that wasn't the fix. MK is the newest gen, 2021, straight out of the box. Thanks

A brand new unit should be eligible for Apple support. If no other volunteer comes by with a solution, you may want to click "Get Support" in the upper right corner of this window.
