icmp times out after a few successful pings and no longer allows me to ping the device (or any other)
Hi, ive been wrestling with this issue all day. Its not for the faint of heart, and it will require someone with a deep understanding of the macos operating system to help figure out.
I have a server on my local network. Its a linux machine running RHEL 8.0.
I am trying to ssh into it, when sometime throughout today my macbook quit being able to ssh and ping it.
I can ping and enter ssh my server from any other device on my network. I have a ssh terminal on my iphone that i can connect to the server with. But my macbook just cannot maintain a connection.
I do not believe this is an issue related to the server, as I cannot ping any other devices from my macbook terminal either.
Heres what happens. I start my macbook, and login. (or i turn my wifi card off and on again) and then i attempt to at least ping my server. I get 1-3 successful icmp requests complete, then I get request timeouts.
Furthermore, my firewall on my macbook is turned off (and yes, stealth mode is also turned off)
and i am certain that i am on the same subnet as my other devices. (255.255.255.0)
I have set my macbook to use a static ip, and dhcp. I set my dns to 1.1.1.1,8.8.8.8 and then reset that to let my router be my dhcp (192.168.1.1)
I have tried ssh'ing from another terminal shell (fish) and i also installed an ssh client from the app store. None of these solutions work.
I do not have any vpn software. I upgraded to Big Sur half way through the day and im on the latest build. I deleted all my network files in "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/" and restarted my macbook. I removed my wifi network device and reinstalled it. Nothing is fixing this.
I can ping my router, and google.com. But i cannot ping any other device on my local lan network. not my iphone, not my desktop, nothing except my router, and anything beyond the router.
Please help. I want to sleep.
