When I’m trying to listen to downloaded music on my iPhone while in airplane mode It stops right at 15 seconds every time?

Music and Airplane Mode Why, all of a sudden can I NOT play music in my iPhone while in airplane mode?!? And before being instructed to restart the phone…I’ve done that. Before it suggested that I have to download my music to the phone, I’ve had an iPhone since 2007 and my music has ALWAYS been “downloaded” and on my phone—unless it wasn’t or now, just isn’t. I really need an explanation (and then a solution) of why I am having issues with my phone. thanks.
