Cannot launch modded MineCraft, conflict with the new M1

Hi! I am not able to play modded minecraft on my new Mac mini with the M1 chip. I get the following error every time I try to launch the game:

The game crashed whilst initializing game
Error: java.lang.IllegalStateException: GLFW error before init: [0x10008]Cocoa: Failed to find service port for display
Exit Code: 255

I've searched through many forums to find a fix, I contacted curse forge. I've been told this is a known issue with the new M1, but as of yet, it hasn't been fixed. Has anyone else run into this problem? Does Apple even know about this issue? Is there something I can do to be able to play modded minecraft? Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sigh. Welcome to a classic Big Tech power play. The problem is 100% Apple's. M1 silicon kills usability of GLFW (Graphics Library Framework), an OpenGL library essential for modded Minecraft and many other games. Apple would like devs to use their proprietary "Metal" API instead. Not an option for the Minecraft community.

This article explains the issue, and notes that open source solutions are coming. But it's Apple's problem, and frankly they don't care about your ability to play modded Minecraft on their machines.
