M1 iMac Randomly Restarting. Requesting that Apple look into patch.
About two weeks ago, my M1 iMac restarted out of the blue, and when I started it up again, I got this error:
s0cd report detected: Ap watchdog detected
When I looked it up, I noticed it kept coming up in other Mac products (like the Macbook and Mac mini) that also had the M1 chip and were likely running Big Sur. Most of the articles I read were fairly certain that the issue was contained to Big Sur 11.1, and that having external hard drives plugged into USB-C to USB-A port hubs connected to the computer was also where the issue occurred most frequently.
The issue did not occur again for me until two days ago (7/7/21) and has happened twice this morning (7/9/21) during a virtual work meeting. I have disconnected my hub for now and am hoping that keeps it from happening in the meantime, but I am hoping that Apple is looking into this issue that has been happening for other M1 users since AT LEAST late January, and will come out with an update or patch for Big Sur that deals with these issues.
