How to hide iPhone 5 keyboard when covering the text?

Since there used to be a button that would dismiss the on-screen keyboard, the easiest way to hide the keyboard now is to touch the screen just above the input field and pull down gently. Pull down too long/hard, and the text may scroll upwards. As a caveat, these steps won’t work in all applications.
