Mac Mail AOL Account going offline intermittently

ON an iMac (27” Late 2013), i5, 8gb, MacOS 10.14.6, Mac Mail 12.4,

The AOL account keeps going offline at random intervals. So far, clicking on "Mailbox / Take Acct Online" has fixed it immediately.

Aside from updating from Mojave to current, is there anything else you can recommend? (We'll update as soon as we can.)

Hey Doc Crumble,

Thank you for the information!

Have you tried to use the Mail Connection Doctor to check the status of your AOL account? Here is how to Use Connection Doctor in Mail on Mac

If the Mail Connection Doctor does not help, try the steps here in If you can’t send emails in Mail on Mac

If you are still having the connection issue, try these steps: If you can’t send or receive email on your Mac

Cheers!

No this particular problem (random offline) is only with AOL acct, & Mac Mail.

We have removed and re-added the account many times, doesn't seem to affect this problem.

There are other problems with AOL rejecting a working password until we remove & re-add the account with the same account. But the offline / online switching happens at different times.
