Apple Watch locked and bluetooth turned off - cannot connect to iphone to unlock

Hello, the bluetooth on my watch was turned off to save battery. The watch eventually shutdown due to dead battery. After charging, I put it back on, and it indicated that the iphone needed to be unlocked so that the watch could be unlocked. With the bluetooth on the watch being off and not connected to the iphone, how can the watch be un-locked? I did not have a passcode set-up on the watch. Is there any way to un-lock the watch without the bluetooth on?
