Macbook Pro A1708 Doesn't Like Dark Colors

My 2016 MacBook Pro A1708 has started having a issue where it doesn't like certain colors. The issue seems to be with dark colors especially black. I have tested it with various versions of MacOS and it's present in all versions. It's also present at boot menus. I have reset V Ram and done all the updates. I'm not sure what's causing it. When on a black image it shows random things in the images that I'm guessing are from screen burn in? I just bought it used so I'm not it's original owner. See attached photos to view the issue. The one with the Apple logo is supposed to be a solid black image. It's showing a old background from a prior OS.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.4

I highly recommend returning the laptop and getting your money back. From your description most likely it will need at least a new Display Assembly and that part is at least $550 US. Regardless most repairs will be $550 US or more.

Keep in mind these USB-C Apple laptops have a lot of design issues which are publicly well known, but there are also a bunch of others I've personally encountered while supporting and repairing them. The publicly known issues: Display cable issue, Keyboard failures with the butterfly keyboards on 2015-2019 USB-C laptops, power/charging/USB-C issues, and with the non-touchbar models you have even more issues such as SSD failures and battery failures.

Plus you must be extremely careful purchasing a used Mac to make sure there is no firmware password lock enabled and that a previous owner is still not able to control the Mac through their AppleID or a school or business still manages the Mac.
