Cloud music library update stuck - new imported music won't sync all of a sudden

Just yesterday this started. Been using iTunes and iCloud Music Library for years and this has never happened. I have Apple Music and iTunes Match. When I rip a CD and add into my iCloud Music Library, the library sync update goes on for hours and won't add the new tracks. I've left it overnight and when I woke up it was still syncing. This was just for one album. I've tried multiple times from my older Mac at home and now from a new MacBook Pro at work and the problem persists.

The new music shows up on my iPhone and other devices, but it's grayed out and gives a dialog box that says the tracks aren't synced. And the actual files in iTunes or Music (or whatever it's called now) just have iCloud status of "waiting" and the sync status is just hanging on "Matching your music" or "uploading music" depending on the

I've trying importing other CDs and new mp3 files and every new file has this problem now. Basically I can't add any of my own music anymore.

I was having the same issue since mid july 2021. I've tried everything: log out/log in, uncheck/check sync, force app quit, restart, update cloud music library, and nothing works... I made some movements today and now it's working for me!! (I don't know if Apple fix it or just me) I share what I did: 1. I quit Apple Music and create a temporary music library holding down the Option key while reopen Music and select "Create a new library" (I named "Temp Music Match Test"). 2. Login in new temporary library with my Apple ID and wait until Cloud music load. 3. I Ripped a new CD and manually File/Library/Update Cloud Library and wait for that process. 4. When finish that process (spinnig wheel stucked stopped magically!) and quit Apple Music (The temporary library). 5. Hold down the Option key while reopen Music in my original Music folder, and wait all process of loading Library...after that, again Update Cloud Library Manually and voila! Hope it works for you.

My entire library of 17,000 tracks are all AAC and mp3 only. No lossless for me.

Yesterday as a test I deleted my entire cloud library from a different mac and tried re-adding everything from my primary High Sierra iMac and left the sync overnight. Woke up this morning and it had pretty much stopped at the point when there were 6500 tracks stuck "waiting" - I stopped the sync and restarted and will leave it all day today to see what happens. I'm pretty sure that tracks it had previously matched this time were uploaded-- and tracks that I've had issues with the past couple weeks were matched just fine, while track that were previously match fine are now stuck waiting, so something it really wrong with the service. It's just all over the place.

Very good point Bruce. Many of my unmatched songs could be due to licensing changes, although many of my unmatched tracks were and are within an album that also had matched tracks, which didn't make sense to me. I also wished there was a way to force rescan track without deleting and re-adding since that would delete a lot of the metadata that iTunes had for those tracks. But that's a whole different issue! :) Thanks for the link.

I have tried lots of things. Going back to an iTunes library form before the problem started for me on July 22. That clears the system; it downloads the tracks uploaded before the problem started, but once you try to add a track, the problem starts again. What I have discovered is that it ONLY affects tracks that can actually MATCH to the iTunes Store. My suspicion is that when they started adding lossless and Dolby Atmos tracks to the iTunes Store, it introduced a bug that in rare circumstances does not allow the “Matching your songs to the iTunes Store” to complete. Or, I am wondering, given that in my case I have a very large iTunes Cloud library, it is just taking very, very long to match with all the new lossless and Dolby Atmos tracks available. HOwever, I don;t think so. I have been able to add 2-3 tracks from different albums in past couple of weeks, but when I tried the other tracks from those albums: no luck! Apple will have to fix this in an update, but before that they will have to recognize there is a problem. A “senior advisor” is supposed to be getting back to me again as they couldn’t fix it for me….

Unfortunately this did not get very far. The support agent I spoke to over the phone was helpful, but was a Senior Support agent for iOS, not macOS nor Music/iTunes. I did a screen share session with him, and he had me create a new macOS user to confirm whether the issue was repeatable. We only got as far as him confirming that the iTunes Match process was slow, and that the next step would be for me to be transferred to a macOS Senior Support agent. The case number I provided is now erroring-out at the get support.apple.com site.

In conclusion, I received no confirmation that Apple is aware of this as a problem on their end, and they're still trying to troubleshoot it as if it's a problem isolated with me. This behavior is also occurring on my other Mac, so it's not isolated by device.

Yes, 3 weeks and a day ago this issue started. I have a Hong Kong account and a UK account. Both have the same issue. Generally will not upload any songs of my own but will sometimes let a couple of tracks upload. Always the same tracks that do upload. Have spent around 20 hours on calls to apple support over the past 3 weeks. Now they have stopped responding at all. It should not be that difficult to fix the issue if they roll back the changes made to the systems ‘ servers to their state on Wednesday July 14th 2021. The issue started that night but on Thursday July 15th 2021 everything stopped working. Have provided screen shots, screen recordings, system logs, changed WiFi, tethered to a phone with no WiFi turned on, NOTHING solves the issues. APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE - YOUR CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THE SERVICE - THEY NEED CUSTOMER CARE, NOW! Thank you…..
