How can I disable the Fn+W toggle?

I accidentally hit this exactly as often as it takes me to forget how it happens and how to undo it each time and I'd like to disable the hotkey because it serves no purpose for me other than to heighten my anger when it happens. It does not appear to be one of the options in the >Preferences>Keyboard Shortcuts tab, and trying to assign it to another function in that menu doesn't work,

Jason,

You checked the Shortcuts tab in System Preferences, can you also verify in the Modifier Keys option of System Preferences > Keyboard what the Function (fn) Key is set to?

Let's also check to see if this is happening in safe mode, if you haven't already. What we want to determine is whether there may be a third-party app or setting that might be managing this. How to use safe mode on your Mac

Additionally, you mentioned the situation was happening system-wide, did you test in a new admin user as well? For a similar reason that if a third-party app or setting was managing hot keys that's typically set up on a user by user basis. Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Thanks.

Greetings Jason Hoffman1,

We understand that you’re encountering an issue when pressing both the Fn + W keys and would like to disable them.

Can you tell us what the current function assigned to that shortcut on your device is? Depending on the shortcut, does it happen in a specific app or is it happening even on the desktop? In System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard is there a check next to ‘Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys’?

Thanks.

Sure, thanks!

Can you tell us what the current function assigned to that shortcut on your device is?

-It switches the functions of the arrow keys with the W,A,S and D keys for each other.

Depending on the shortcut, does it happen in a specific app or is it happening even on the desktop?

-It's system level (happens in any application or the desktop.)

In System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard is there a check next to ‘Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys’?

-Nope
