Numbers

Numbers need to create a new document when I make a small change to an existing one. Then send me a notice that I can delete the existing one or save this as a new one.

It used to work well but now it is extremely annoying.

I have tried force quitting – doesn't work

For now my choice seems to be to rename the new document and then compare it line by line with the one I had been using..

That does sound annoying.

Where are you saving the Numbers document? If in iCloud Drive or on your local drive then you should see this problem. You could double-check your internet connection and sign out and then back in again.

Or are you saving it somewhere else, in another cloud service for example?

Also, have you tried restarting your Mac? That sometimes can clear up unexpected behavior.
