External USB Microphone doesn't accept inputs

I have got ATH-G1WL headphones with microphone, this device uses radio receiver through USB interface. When I connect to my iMac (27'', 2019, macOS Big Sur 11.4) the device is recognised, output works as expected but microphone doesn't accept any input. In System Preferences > Sound I see my input device but the input level bar doesn't show any measurements. I tried this headphones on my MacBook Pro (13'', 2020, macOS Big Sur 11.4) and everything works as expected.

The issue is not about:

  • Any physical damage;
  • Switched off microphone on device;

What I tried and doesn't help:

  • Restarting iMac;
  • Shutdown, unplug, waiting and start again;
  • Resetting NVRAM;
  • Starting in safe mode;
  • Creating new account;
  • Switching system languages.

Hi etretyakov,

Thanks for reaching out using Apple Support Communities. Here to help.

We understand you are having trouble with using a microphone input device on your iMac. Thank you for the information provided thus far.

If we're understanding correctly, the device does appear in System Preferences > Sound > Input, but does not seem to pick up audio input, correct? Have you been able to test any other audio input devices, wired or wireless, with this Mac?

We'll link to a few resources we found by Audio-Technical that may be helpful to confirm recommended configuration and updated firmware.

How do I set up the ATH-G1WL Wireless Gaming Headset with a Computer?

How do I update the firmware on my headphones with the Audio-Technica Connect app?

Due to the wireless receiver nature of the product, we'll also link to an Apple resource regarding reducing wireless interference. Consider anything in the environment that could be interfering and adjust the environment as necessary.

Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

We hope some of this information is found to be helpful. We would suggest opening a support ticket with Audio-Technica using the above links. They may have awareness of more specific troubleshooting steps for this concern. If we can provide any further support or clarity, please reply to let us know.

Best wishes!

Yes, my Bose QuietComfort 35 II that uses bluetooth interface works as expected. For usb interface I have no any other devices to test.
