Restrictions Not Working

I have restrictions set to not allow explicit content, but this material is still showing up in curated lists and recommendations on Apple Music. Why?

Hello AmyJ156! Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you still see explicit content even though it's restricted. We'd like to look into this with you to see how we can help.

If you're part of a Family Sharing group, are you listed as a Parent/Guardian, or the organizer of the Family Sharing group? If so, are you trying to restrict content for a child in the group, or for your own device? The article you visited prior to coming to Apple Communities has the steps to take to block content for a child.

If you want to turn off explicit content on your own device, you can use Screen Time, also: Prevent explicit content and content ratings

Make it a great day!

Was the explicit content files on your devices before you set the controls? I don't think setting the control is retroactive. However, it should stop you from being able to download or play any other music with explicit content from the Apple Music catalog. I'm not sure - you may be able to see the titles of the explicit content songs when searching the Apple Music catalog, but you should only be able to play or download the clean versions.

If you still need help, contact Apple Support.

Thank you - I know how to set the controls for children and myself. All of the devices are set to exclude explicit content, but it still shows up on both their devices and mine. It was my understanding that once these controls were set, this content would not show in the recommendations in Apple Music, but it still is, both in the browse feature as well as the curated lists.

If the content cannot be filtered out, I will be cancelling our subscription to Apple Music and removing it from our phones. I don't necessarily want to do this, so I hope there is a solution! When I researched family-friendly streaming options, Apple seemed to have the best controls available, so I don't understand why they're not working.
