my thousand dollar iphone 11 max pro refuses to call via wifi so rely on a very weak cell signal; my laptop however is happy to use wifi to conduct 1 hour Zoom calls
I have taken all advised steps to correct this issue with no success; using the latest iOS 14.7
this phone is almost useless to me except as a paperweight - help!

Speak with your carrier. They are the ones that implement and support wi-fi calling. You need to speak with them about setting it up and troubleshooting any problems you may be encountering. And Zoom has nothing to do with connecting with your carrier. Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support
WiFi calling is a carrier feature.
