My iMac Model #14.1 has a fan running constantly. How do I determine if my Mac can be restarted -if it has the memory chip that is required before I actually try SMC reset? Does it contain the T2 CHIP? If so, I could try that method first. Has the 2.7 GH 2 Intel core. Thanks

Way too old for the T2 chip, its resetting the SMC several times not fix it then you have a hardware failure such as the fans and/or fan sensors.
Yes - upon additional reading I realize my Mac is a senior citizen and doesn't house a T2chip. I guess unplugging and resetting the machine is the only option before addressing hardware. Thanks for taking the time to respond! Appreciated.
