Unable to install Apple Mobile Device USB Drive in Computer?

For some reason, I have suddenly not been able to have iTunes on my laptop recognize my iPhone. I have gone through multiple troubleshooting steps, uninstall and re-installed iTunes, ensured both iTunes and my iPhone iOS are up-to-date. I have narrowed it down to a driver issue.

When I go to Device Manager, my iPhone shows up as a "MTP USB Device" under Portable Device with an exclamation point triangle in the icon. When I click into it, the following shows up in the Device Status dialogue box:

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31) Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API.

I have clicked "Update Drivers" for the "MTP USB Device" and it continually says that the most updated driver is installed for it.

The real mystery is that under Universal Serial Bus controllers, the usual "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" is not found. I have tried to manually install the driver multiple times, but I cannot get the driver to show up when I plug in my iPhone for the life of me.

I have exhausted all the help pages and cannot seem to find a solution to this. I have even called Apple Support as advised in the help article, but the advisor cannot help me and told me to contact "Windows support", but there is no such a thing. (Cue eye roll) Can someone please help me?
