Music quit unexpectedly, pop up error on my Mac

I am getting these pop up windows when I exit programs. I downloaded an app from the App Store for the Mac, a photo editing app, and I get this type of pop up every single time I exit the app. Now I got one of these for an Apple app, the Music app, and now I am worried. I have already restored my Mac OS to factory (not the whole Mac, just the OS) recently and have not done anything to it like add third party apps or programs and now I am receiving these pop up windows randomly. I DID just update to the newest MacOS, 11.5, and I am wondering if maybe that is the issue? Maybe 11.5 broke MacOS somehow and now some apps are affected this way?

Welcome to your first Apple Computer based on the new Apple Silicon CPU M1. It uses a different Machine Language and Instructions from the Intel based Apple computer you may have used or owned previously.


Since Apple is moving away from Intel to the In-House Apple Silicon CPU and to allow Application Developers time to re-write their Application to work with the Apple Silicon CPU. Apple has made >> Rosetta2 << part of Bug Sur on M1 CPU computer.


This Rosetta2 software is, sort of, the translator, between the Intel Application and the Apple Silicon M1 CPU. Without this translator the Application would not work


This brings us to your computers' situation. All the Applications installed on this computer and listed earlier are written for the Intel CPU and Rosetta2 must be automatically invoke each time any of these application is open and used. That will degrade the overall performance and may also present what you have outlined as your issue. Upgrading or updating these Application to

Universal ( contains both M1 Instructions and Intel Instructions ) will greatly increase the overall performance of the computer and may also make less demands for Memory.


Lastly - also as mentioned - there are numerous Applications that are set to Load and Start when the computer if First turned on from being Off. This will slow the entire boot process and consume unnecessary CPU power and Memory. It is suggested going into System Preferences >> Users & Groups >> choose You User Account on the left >> on the right you will see a Tab called Password and another Tab called " Login Items ". This is the one ( Login Items ) to open. In there are all Applications listed that will automatically load when the computer is first started. Click on any item listed and small minus sign bottom left and click Remove. That means that Application will Stop loading when the computer first starts up

Suggest downloading the Application Etrecheck directly from a Trusted Developer and well Respected ASC Contributor. The application is free or paid from added features. Run the application with Full Disc Access ( Security & Privacy - Full Disc Access ). It will take a Snap Shot -  both the hardware and software. The Report will Not Reveal Any Personal Information. Post back the Full Report - copy and paste - using the Additional Text Icon ( 3rd Icon to last )


We can have a look at the report for possible issues and may have possible suggestions to resolve the issues.


Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS, alter, modify, remove or delete or attempt to do so is an invitation for disaster and may require a Reinstallation of the OS.

This is a quick snap shot of the Limited Access Report from Etrecheck.


The computer is the new M1 CPU and there are a pile of Intel Only Applications and thusly all have to invoke Rosetta2 to function. It may work but much better to update / upgrade to Universal Applications. They will function better and have less CPU demand as well as Memory demands IMHO


Added are also a pile of Intel Applications ALL set to startup when the computer starts. Again CPU and Memory demands. It might be better to remove from Startup Items in User Account and launch only when needed.

Forgive me, but this is my first Mac. I don’t understand what you just shared. I don’t know what a time machine is. When I clicked on it, it asked me for some sort of airport thing and I don’t have one of those. Apple Music uses Rosetta? I thought Apple apps were M1 optimized? I don’t really know what to do here and what is going on. I didn’t get this pop up with Apple Music until I updated to the new OS, so I’m really thinking that it is a problem with the OS update. I’ve only had this Mac for a week or so.

Thank you for your help. I had just two small apps running when the OS starts, so I stopped them from running. It doesn't explain why I got the pop up for Apple Music, which I am sure runs on M1. I can't believe it's been almost a year and developers have not updated their software to M1. Is it that difficult a processor to develop for? Or are people just not bothering to do so because they just don't want to?

If the computer is so consumed with CPU usage for Other Applications and Especially INTEL Applications - there is a lack of free CPU Power and Memory for Apple Music to run properly - It is that simple.


As for Developers to re-write their Applications - it costs time and money and some may have stopped re-writing older applications to concentrate on New Applications that are written for the M1 CPU. Some of this Older Application are what are presently installed on your computer.


Lastly - one two small application that you have sti=opped from starting when computer first starts - check again. They may not some where it was suggested to look but according to the supplied Report - all the below are stu=ill loading when the computer is first started.

It's hard to believe that the few apps I have on this Mac are using up all the 16gb of memory. I also have the 8gb CPU and 8gb GPU. If the few apps I have on here is consuming all the power this thing has got, and my older Windows laptop is still running smoothly and fast, then that is not saying very much for the new M1 Macs. I bought this thing on reviews from YouTube tech people who praised this thing up and down. As it stands, it seems like I shouldn't have anything installed on this thing except what comes with it. I looked up the apps that you mentioned and according to the website I visited, they are all optimized for M1 except for the diary one. That wasn't even on the list, but it was in the App Store on the Mac. So what should I do here?

This is my first Mac. I just got it last Wednesday. I purchased this at full specs but with just 1tb of storage. This IS my first Mac. I bought it because I wanted a Mac, I wanted to get away from Microsoft as I don't like the direction they are going. When I bought this Mac I maxed out the specs because I wanted this to be a computer that I would have for a good long while without having to upgrade in the near future. I bought my Windows machine 3 years ago and it is roughly about 5-6 years old and it is till snappy and fast. This Mac is fast and I love it, but the way you responded I didn't know if you were suggesting that I should get rid of these other apps I have because they are hogging my CPU and memory. Like I said, this is my first Mac and I hope to get some help here. I'm not really understanding what needs to be done.

Maybe the wording has confused you. When I said "I also have 8gb CPU and 8gb GPU..." I was continuing the specs that I shared stating that I have the 16gb version of this Mac. It doesn't mean that I have both a 16gb Mac AND an 8gb CPU/8gb GPU Mac. I think you were mistaken and gave up on helping me because you didn't read my message correctly. If you don't wish to help me any longer, then that is ok. Kindly never help me with any other issue if you give up so easily because you don't understand a post the first time around. I have an honest question that I need help with and I have no time to deal with those who give up so easily because they misread a post. Thank you for your previous help.


Can anyone else help me on this issue? If so, if anything I write seems unclear, please don't give up and "wish me luck with my issues" but ask me and I will clarify it. Thank you.
