I have an m1 MacBook Air and the screen resolution is 2560X1600 which is obviously 16:10. I went and tried to edit that video in final cut pro and the thing immediately crashes whenever I try to do anything with it. It says something about it being unsupported video and asks me to rescale it to 16:9 which I do and then it subsequently crashes.

The codec is H.264 and I can open the file in QuickTime. Final Cut Pro does have full disc access and it's stored in the movies folder. I got it to work by putting in a title first and then the video, somehow that worked.
So the file is 1920x1200 60fps. You don't know the codec? Probably H.254. Can you open the file in the QuickTime Player?
Firs, make sure that FCP has Full Disk Access in Privacy System Preferences.
What exactly happens when you are in FCP and press Cmd-I and navigate to where the file is stored? Where is it stored?
What’s that video? Where did this video come from? Please give an exact step by step of what you’re doing from the beginning. FCP doesn’t care about the aspect ratio of the video.
I was playing a game and wanted to record it so I used obs and it was recording at 1920x1200. at 60fps. The Base canvas was 2560x1600 if that matters. The file format was mp4, I am not exactly sure what else is important because I am not an expert at this stuff. If you need anymore info tell me.
