Picture transfer on new imac

I have and old IMac (2009) all my photos are there and not in the cloud. (44,000 pics) How do I transfer them to my new iMac? Will the migration manager do that?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

How do I transfer photos from my iPhone 12 Pro to my Mac? When I transfer my photos from iphone 12 pro to my apple laptop via airdrop, they do not open and show size of 0kb in download folder. Other files like pdf can be opened sent through airdrop. What can be the problem and how can I resolve it? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Yes, Migration Assistant will migate them. PLEASE carefully read the instuctions in Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant.
