Macbook pro keyboard mis-typing

MacBook pro 2016 15inch. Recently updated to big sur within a days keyboard issues arise.

Keys in the outer columns (`, tab, caps lock, shift, fn) work fine on both left and right side.

Keys in the upper most, and lower most rows work fine.

Additional keys with no issues: "[" "]" "," ";" "/" and associated caps

The issue arises with the letter keys.

Example pressing "a" output is "aqz". Letters which are above and below 'a'

f = frv

h = hny

v = fvr

t = bgt

and so on.

It seems like hardware failure to me, but I thought Id ask about it.

thoughts? TIA

Thank you for pointing that out. I will take it in when I return home. Currently outside the US.

Check with the local Apple folks or Apple authorized service provider wherever you are?

Any other troubleshooting thoughts?

Short of a hardware repair? Past an NVRAM and an SMC reset and a Safe Mode boot, and I’m not hopeful that any of would do anything here, no. Maybe get an external keyboard?
