Magic Keyboard Drains iPad Pro battery in a few hours

I have seen a few mentions of this on the web but have yet to read a solution. Is this a software or hardware flaw and what can/is Apple going to do if anything can be done?

Thanks.

Greetings KreatorOne,

We understand that when a Magic Keyboard is connected with your iPad Pro, the battery on your iPad Pro drains more quickly.

We have a few questions, but also want to explore some data on the situation. Do you notice this when your iPad is asleep, in use or both? Are we working with iPadOS 14.7.1? You can verify in Settings > General > Software Update.

Next, go to Settings > Battery and take a look at what’s using the most battery during that time frame. Here’s how to read the information you find on that screen - About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch There is also a link in there under the section, ‘Adjust settings to improve battery life’ to maximize the battery life and usage.

Let us know what you find out.

I am having the same exact issue. I have read others online speculating that it’s an issue with the specific keyboard (i.e. it is a faulty one) rather than because of settings or the iPad itself. I just purchased my keyboard (and iPad) in June and this issue started on day one. Is it possible to exchange for a new keyboard to see if that is indeed the issue? It’s very frustrating that I can’t leave my iPad closed for more than a couple of hours without it dying.
