I received an email from Apple that said my iPhone has viruses

I received an email from “apple” that said my phone had 3 viruses and the battery was infected and I needed to download some software immediately to remove all of the malware or my phone would die. It is phishing isn’t it? They do this so well, I can’t tell anymore.
