Firefox popups with junk to buy

Hi All,

I have a customer that gets Firefox popups with junk to buy every morning. Firefox is off at night when she leaves. Happens after power on in the morning only.

I have checked Firefox's exgtensint and she only has uBlock Orgin installed. She also has something called "CleanMyMac" which I am suspicious of.

When I finally get to remote into her (Go To Assist), I was thinking of running these guys at her.

The best antivirus, cleaning app, and overall maintenance app for Mac OS is Mac OS itself. All you need to do with Mac OS to keep it secure and running well is to keep it up-to-date and do periodic (about 1x per week) restarts. Other than that, leave it alone. Adding third party antivirus, cleaning, security and other types of maintenance apps to Mac OS adds no additional level of security. The only thing these apps do is have the opposite affect users want. They make Mac OS slow, unstable, generate odd behavior (much like you are experiencing) and make Mac OS appear buggy.

Please locate the developers uninstall instructions for CleanMyMac and follow to the letter. Then restart in Safe Mode per the directions in Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Macand then restart normally.

How to uninstall CleanMyMac X:

Reference: https://cleanmymac.com/how-to-uninstall-cleanmymac

You can remove CleanMyMac X is by simply dragging it to the

Trash. However, by doing this, as with removing any

other app, it will leave application leftovers on

your Mac.

It is recommended to use the Uninstaller module of CleanMyMac

X for complete removal. And here's how you do that:

Open CleanMyMac X

Proceed to the Uninstaller module

Find CleanMyMac X in the list of apps found by the module

Click Complete Removal in the Smart Selector panel to mark

the application file and all it related items for removal.

Click Uninstall

Confirm that you are going to remove the app in the newly

appeared message.
