Turn the Hold switch on, then off again and immediately press and hold the Menu and the Select (centre) buttons (at the same time) for at least ten seconds.


That should cause the Apple logo to appear and then the iPod will re-start.


This is outlined in the article you came from, so I assume that you've already tried this. If you have, and it didn't work, perhaps the iPod has failed. It's a very old model, and they do fail, mine did some years ago.
