Downloading a custom-made ringtone!

I have already (successfully) downloaded a few songs to my ringtone - and dragged it from my desktop to my 'tones' on my iPhone (when iTunes is open)....

(see photos)

I decided to make 1 of the ringtones shorter ... so I re-created the ringtone and it's now on my computer as shown. I dragged it to my iPhone (tones) as before; and it's showing that they are 'trying' to download (the faded circles)

How long does it take for these tones to fully transfer to my phone???

Here is the shortened ringtone that I dragged onto my computer - after creating it (in m4r format).

Then I dragged this ringtone to my 'tones' on my iPhone when connected to iTunes (as I did before)...I already have 4 existing ringtones on my phone. But the new ones I dragged over are still trying to download....the 2 with the greyed out circles. How come it's taking forever???

Trudijane,

Got it, thank you for letting us know. You mentioned you restarting your computer. We also recommend restarting your iPhone as well. You could also try ejecting your iPhone and then connecting it again, then try to add the ringtone again.

You can also ensure that both your iPhone and Mac are running the latest version of the software both are running.

If you continue to encounter this, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance here: Contact Apple Support

Best wishes.

Hey Trudijane,

We understand that you've made and synced ringtones successfully to your iPhone, but now you have 2 that are taking awhile to sync. Does the same issue continue if you restart your computer? It can seem like a simple step, but it might help.

You mentioned you have 4 already synced to your iPhone and 2 have a grayed out circle. Were there any changes made to your computer or iPhone between when you synced the other 4 over to your iPhone to the newly made ones? This may help us determine what might be going on and help with next steps.

Take care!

I know it doesn't help to 'restart' my computer, as i've already done that.

Yes, there was a change when I recently upgraded my iMac to 'High Sierra' from 'El Capitan'. But I don't remember whether I had the ringtones before the upgrade or not. It's possible I don't rememember.

But the same principles were used to upgrade or sync a ringtone to my phone via iTunes.

There are all my ringtones already made on my computer desktop.

The first 3 are already in my tones folder on my phone. The last ringtone (the shortened version) is the ringtone I dragged to my phone...where you see it's trying to download. Strangely enough,, it has shown up on my iPad; even though I didn't drag it there.
