Hotspot does not show up as an option to connect to. This is on and off throughout the day. New Iphone 12. Verizon service.

My husband and I just bought new Iphone 12's We use Verizon for our service. We often have issues with our personal hotspots showing up as an option to connect to on my laptop and our Roku devices. We have used our personal hotspots for years. I would say on or around May of this year, we have been struggling. We had Iphone 7's. We thought because our phones were old, we should upgrade the phones.

This morning, no problems. This afternoon, neither device show up as an option. We have restarted all devices, laptop, roku, and phones. We have checked that hotspot is on. We have confirmed we have personal hotspots with the carrier. What the heck??? So frustrating.

Any ideas?

Hi royalmegness,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you’re having issues when you Share your internet connection from iPhone and we're happy to help! We also see that came to us from the Apple Support article If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular).

If you haven't already done so follow all the steps under "If you can't connect to Personal Hotspot with Bluetooth" found in the Apple Support article If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi + Cellular), and also follow the steps in the Apple Support article Check VPN (Virtual Private Network) and third-party software to help resolve network connectivity issues.

Have a nice day.

Hey guys! I had an Iphone 11 Pro Max then upgraded to Iphone 12 Pro, and have the same issue with both. 3 parties involved: 1.) Windows OS 2.) Apple Iphone 3.) service provider There appears to be some form of "non-activity" automatic shut off of the hotspot. Also Windows does not integrate well, either by USB (which becomes an Ethernet connection which is used to sync with ITunes). Also it appears that AT&T may be shutting down the connection. After repeated trips to the Apple store and AT&T, nobody had a clue. Then I called ATT technical support and the gal on the line was able to change my network from 5G (on the 11 Pro this would be 5GE) to 4G LTE... then the connection worked fine with no problems. You can enter your settings and go to Cellular Data Options then see Voice and Data... try changing from 5G Auto to 4G.. Next: wireless adapter: RUN>devmgmt opens the device manager go to your wireless adapter/properties/advanced/scan valid interval, change to 120 (default 60), then click on PowerMgmt, uncheck the turn off to save power button, then exit / reboot. Try these tricks. I usually have to uncheck the hotspot / allow others to join repeatedly and keep pushing the connection window on the lower right hand corner... note in the picture I often get a second wireless network, probably some iPhone issue there.

Hope it helps. This constant Reset Network settings and rebooting phone is not an acceptable answer, but that's all we hear from most technical support. Every time you start your car, please open the hood and reconnect the battery.... would be a comparable scenario.
