Hello, how do I add iMovie to Microphone Security & Privacy? I'm unable to do voiceovers. I only have Zoom and QuickTime listed and ticked and I can't see how I can add iMovie or other apps.

By the way, iMovie does not need to show up in Security & Privacy/Microphone. It doesn't show up in mine either, but the Voiceover works with both internal and external mics.

Plug in your external mic and go to Applications/AudioMIDI setup.app and make sure that your external microphone is selected.
It could also be that your mic jack is not working or your brand of mic is not supported by Mac.

In Security & Privacy, try clicking on Accessibility and then unlocking and adding iMovie with the + sign at the bottom of the pane.

Thanks Rich for your response. Unfortunately, this didn't work for me. There's no where to add apps and no + sign.

I've just deleted preferences as you mentioned above and will check voiceover.

It's now recording using inbuilt speaker ok but still not through Rode mic. It's displaying it though which it wasn't before.

Also, since voiceover is not working it might simply be a corrupt preference causing that. Try deleting preferences. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Deleting preferences is a safe
procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.
To rule out that the issue might be confined to just this one project, create a new project and see if the voiceover feature works there.

Me again....iMovie shows connection to USB mic (wasn't before I did the delete preferences) but no recording either using mic or computers internal speakers. Is there something else I need to do to reconnect the sound. I've checked in Sound preferences both internal and external mic displayed.

CORRECTION: AudioMIDI Setup.app is in the Applications/Utilities folder. I mistakenly left off the Utilities folder from the file path in my previous post.
