size of itunes update

How can an update be 5GB in size? I've read the existing comments about try this, try that, but everyone is ignoring the elephant in the closet. WHY is an update so huge?

I know the download times out with that -3### error. My point is it should never have to wait that long. The size of 14.7.1 on the phone is about 150 mb. But iTunes always insists they're going to download 5GB. For What?

Thanks. That definitely explains the size. Now the daily double question is 'why'? If the great and wonderful wizard can send a delta of 150mb over the air, why the **** can't they send the delta to iTunes?

And the big question of the year... Why can't they send it straight to the phone? That's why I pay ATT the big bucks for UNLIMITED cellular data.

Ah well, it ain't on you. Your answer was spot on. Thanks again.
