Scanner permission denied

After the latest software update, I now get a message that I don't have permission to access the scanner on either my HP printer or my Canon printer. I've restarted, reinstalled printer drivers, etc., all with no success. I saw a thread on the HP help site that advised to add the image capture apps from the printers to full disk access in the privacy preference, but that didn't work. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks,

Bill J.

Do not use any of the printer's software.

First, delete all HP and Canon software. Next, Reset the Mac printing system to solve a problem - Apple Support. Finally, Add a printer on Mac - Apple Support.

Wasted quite a few hours myself dealing with this issue last week, with no success. Just before the weekend, Apple acknowledged the issue and recommended a fix in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212756 (which also mentions that "...This issue is expected to be resolved in a future software update.")

The fix worked for me (follow the steps and now I am able to use the scanner from inside Preview's File -> Import from ... menu.

Cheers,
