Apple TV audio/video sync issues

I absolutely experience something similar with my Apple TV 4K. When watching some shows on some apps (being vague as it seems not specific to just one) after 2-3 minutes the audio with repeat about 4 seconds, but the video continues play as normal, resulting in a 4 second sync issue. I have updated os, tried auto and specific video and audio settings without eliminating the problem. I expect this to be reported as a repeatable and diverse user issue.

I purchased 2 Ultra High Speed HDMI cables (one for AppleTV to TV HDMI and one from my Sonos Beam to my TV ARC input). It seems to have remedied all audio issues (4 days and no issues). I haven’t experienced any lag while watching Hulu Live, Hulu, AppleTV, Frndly or Netflix. I think it’s definitely not having a certified high speed HDMI cable that’s creating the issue. .

I’m having issues with my brand new AirPod Max headphones and Apple TV on 15.1.1 Serious out of sync audio and video. Just playing anything from Apple TV + through the TV speakers also has sync issues. Non Apple content through other apps on Apple TV also have the sync issues but seem less out of sync. Never had these issues pre the recent Apple TV software updates.

I had the same issue (audio arriving ahead of video when streaming audio to airplay speakers), but it miraculously resolved itself this week. I'm guessing the new tvOS version fixed the flaw that I had for about 2 months.

I'm still having audio issues with YouTube (Airplay audio drops a few seconds into every video), but don't want to speculate whose fault that is.

We’re having the same issues. Apple TV 4K via high speed HDMI to the TV. Then sound from the tv to the sound bar (not arc compatible) via optical cable.

the sound is calibrated using the Apple calibration and iPhone, but the sound eventually runs away from the video. No idea how to rectify it.

I could connect the Apple tv via the hdmi to the hdmi in on the soundbar then to the tv via the hdmi out, but not sure if I’d lose some video quality in the process.

I’m really sick and tired of testing and retesting my audio settings. This is happening all the time lately.

Is Apple TV causing the out of synch problems with the streaming services?

Could someone tell me what the problem is because I have tried all the suggestions in this forum and the sound stays in synch for about 5 mns and then goes out of synch again and again.

If you route the sound directly through the Tv speakers, so hdmi from Apple to TV, that’s it, does it stay in sync then? That’s one think I haven’t tested yet. Effectively moving the soundbar from the equation.

I have the latest 4K AppleTV and encountered the same lip sync failure. I used a High Speed HDMI, but changing that for an Ultra High Speed, HDMI version 2.1, have remedied all problems.

Didn’t the writer just say audio format is not and does not solve the issue? Do you guys read the posts or just hover over familiar keywords like “audio” “video” “lag” Apple needs to fix this immediately it’s absurd that a product of this price tag has these ridiculous syncing issues.

I use Bose Bluetooth speaker Soundlink Color II and Soundlink Micro with my Apple TV 4K.

I have no sync issues with just one speaker in use but sync problem when pairing two Bose speaker in stereo mode…

I have out of sync with the Soundlink Micro but not with Soundlink Color II pair in stereo mode !

So I think it’s Bose that got to solve the problem with some of its Bluetooth speaker…

Very strange I connected one of my Soundlink Micro in stereo mode with a new Soundlink Micro and they are in sync…!

I reconnect the two Micro that were unsync in stereo mode and they are now in sync…!

Dont know what to think is going on…

I'm experiencing similar audio desync issues on a Panasonic TV with built in Atmos Soundbar (JZ2000). With the ATV4k audio desync happens gradually while watching across different apps, but it's sometimes limited to certain shows. On ATV+ Ted Lasso is especially unwatchable as it desyncs noticeably in every episode while Foundation is fine. The issue is mostly resolved when deactivating Atmos. The issue does not occur when using the TV's internal apps like Netflix or Prime with Atmos sound, only on the ATV4k

I have had this issue with all generations of Apple TV and ultimately just have to live with it. I have reached out to the apps (Eg Great Courses) and they act like it’s the first time they are hearing of the issue. Restart and cross your fingers.

Yeah so this is happening for me too. I had to disable the 5.1 because apparently there is a bug between samsung tv's and appletvs. So the sound is on stereo and SO off even a reboot isn't fixing this. Anyway now I have a roku on this tv and the sound and video are 100% in sync. Problem with the Apple TV. Two problems with the apple tv really making me just want to return this junk...

I have a similar lip sync / audio lag when watching Apple TV programs in 4K using the Apple TV app on my 2018 LG 70" UHD SMART TV 70U6.

The lag is so bad, that I use my old Apple TV 4th gen to watch Apple TV programs. I don't get to watch my Apple TV programs in 4KV (nor in Dolby Atmos) but it least the sound matches. I do not have this problem when watching Disney+ nor HBO Max (using the respective Apps on my LG TV).

I don't know where your sound output goes to (directly from the TV or into some type of sound system) but I was able to fix the sound lag from my TV to my Sonos Arc by purchasing an HDFury Arcana. Huge difference. Now I can watch all my cable box items with no lag. I probably could avoid all the lagging audio by purchasing a TV with an eARC output (vs ARC) but I am not ready to purchase a new TV just yet.

I think the problem is with Apple and how they package their sound with their 4K products since Disney+ seems to be able to do it with no issue. (or my Apple tv app is written poorly for my LG TV).
