bigsur 12.5.2 print problems

I pretty much do my updates when they are released. About a week ago, probably when I updated to BigSur 12.5.1, my working relationship between my MacBook Pro and my HP577 was damaged: the graphics print OK but the text is all small boxes with question marks inside. I have tried re-setting the print driver, I have tried restarting the computer and the printer at the same time, I have tried erasing and reinstalling the print driver, and have had no luck. I'm getting really frustrated.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

So, now we know it is not a font issue but a printer/driver issue. I found this discussion that offers a potential solution: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253013946. If this doesn't work, you may want to contact HP directly: https://support.hp.com/us-en


Now, reverting to an earlier version of macOS is possible but I'm not qualified enough to help you. I would recommend creating a new post on this forum specific to this so that the more qualified contributors can answer your question.
