Can I install some RAM on my iMac or should I take it to a service center?

I have a I-Mac 21.5-2017with only 8 gb of RAM which I have outgrown! I purchased Memory from Crucial that they told me was compatible but I see in this article that I have to take my I-mac to a service center for an upgrade. Any way to do it myself?

Not really, 21.5" iMacs are not designed to be worked on by end users. Please look at the following video and you will see why.
